It was a jump to the left...#rockyhorrorfilm #throwbackthursday

Well on Thursday night Pirate Mick, myself and my lovely friend had an evening of absolute pleasure! Not a normal Thursday night in January, on what was the coldest night of the year, but a glorious feast for eyes and soul.

The Parkway Cinema in Cleethorpes have a throw back Thursday.  They show films that people have loved over the years and for a wonderful bargain price of £5.00. Why not have a look at the website, there may be a film you fancy.

I was so excited when I saw they were showing 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show'.  I have seen it many, many times on the television but never on the big screen.

I was at work during the day and so it was a tight turnaround but I managed to get ready on time, put on my warm faux fur coat and was ready to rock!
Ready to rock!
The screening was amazing.  You do not realise how much you miss seeing films on the small screen.
We brought our props and joined in with the time warp. 'It's just a jump to the left..'.
Audience participation is obviously more in the live shows but there was still some at the screening.
I never once looked at my watch to see if it was nearly over as my eyes and my soul was drinking in the wonderful visual and audio feast.

Have you seen the original?  I know it is not every bodies cup of tea. It has a taste of science fiction, hammer horror and theatre. Even today it can be seen as shocking. Brad and Janet sleeping with Frank and the murder of Eddie.  Some how you should not want to like the characters but what I would not do to spend an evening with FranknFurter. Is there a character you would like to meet?

As you are aware I love musicals so not surprising on that level.  The show was written by Richard O'Brian, who is gloriously different, remember him in the Crystal Maze?.  He also plays Riff Raff and Jim Sharman.  There is also an appearance by Christopher Biggins!  Did not I say this film is amazing!!
I am also a little in love with Tim Curry as FranknFurter. The pale face, the make up, the hair, the corset and the fish nets. When I saw the live screening of 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show' in 2015, commemorating 40 years release, I also fell a little in love with David Bedella.  Is it the actors or am I secretly a Frankie fan and in love with the character?

The musical is often seen as not mainstream.  It is often quoted as being a bit strange or weird.
I am not mainstream and probably why I love it so.  It reminds me of a quote I saw.

'I am Different.  Always have been.  It took a while but I have now accepted that I am a magic not meant for everyone to understand.  So that makes them question and that is okay.  I will stay being me'.
I will be me and you will be you and that is okay! Do you agree?

A change is as good as a rest #Lacebygolfclub #ladieslunch

As a member of a Ladies Lunch circle we often go out to eat, the clue is in the title, for lunch!! We meet roughly every six weeks and I have been going for around six years!
We are a diverse group of ladies and enjoy catching up on everybody's news lending support, a listening ear or a much needed laugh!!

Our regular meeting spot is 'Waltham Golf Club' in Waltham, Near Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire.
I used this venue for my 21st(!!!!) birthday a couple of years a go.
Nothing was too much trouble, even couple of days after Christmas with snow on the ground.
There are other events such as Spring and Winter Balls and dance nights held here which are usually well attended.

At the last meet up it was decided to try a change of venue and the 'Laceby Golf Club'

Laceby Golf Club is in a beautiful setting and has a large car park.  The restaurant is situated on the first floor.  It was one of the coldest days of the year so far and as nobody else was dining the room was slightly chilly.
The lady who looked after us was lovely and very attentive and greeted us warmly and handed us the menus.

I do not know why but I am a starter and dessert person!  I was delighted when Tapas became popular.
There was not anything I particularly was drawn to on the menu but when I asked if I could have the goats cheese starter as a main, there was no problem.  It was served as starter and not made any larger to be served as a main. Luckily I had added chips.  I suppose the only way to have made it larger would had been to add more salad.  The cranberry sauce was very nice but quite sparse.
The desserts were beautifully presented and the lemon dessert I had was delicious.

It made a nice change and was an enjoyable afternoon.  A change is as good as a rest they say.  However I think the next meeting will be back at our usual haunt.

Do you have a favourite restaurant or a local one?  Let me know what you think.

Keep your hair on!! #lushwigs #wigs #hair

Hello! Have you ever used the excuse you can not go out somewhere because you are washing your hair?  Well I can not use that excuse anymore (but I still will!!). I have purchased another wig.  I have a few hair pieces that I attach to my hair, usually when I want an up do. I have a long mermaid wig but the length put me off, although typing this it has given me an idea and I may find it and give it a new shorter style. I will let you know if I accomplish this!

A couple of years ago I purchased an Elsa wig from Lush wigs.

I really like it and use it for dressing up and special events but too much like Elsa for everyday use.  However it has worn really well and needs hardly any care.

As my hair is now short I love it for every day but need variety in all aspects of my life including my hair! I used to change the colour so often.  Nobody ever knew what colour it would be.  I ranged from purple, black, red, blonde, turquoise, and even a mixture of colours!
Due to circumstances I needed to change to my natural colour! Yes, I am natural blonde, it says so on the bottle!!

I am finding at the moment one of the best shampoos and conditioner are the 'Dumb Blonde' range from 'Bed Head'.

So unable to change the colour of my hair very often I have decided to look into purchasing more wigs.
As my Elsa wig was from Lush wigs and I was very impressed with it I looked at the website  and I fell in love with the 'Snow Owl' wig when I saw it.

Snow Owl White Short Bob Gothic Lolita Cosplay Lush Wig

£24.99

  • A bright, white chin length bob with a side swept fringe, Snow Owl is thick and glossy, and looks so glam teamed with a bright lip!
I was so pleased with my purchase that I wore it a few times over the new year.
I was complimented on it and people thought it was my own hair and it only took five minutes to get ready and secure it!

I already have my eye on the next purchase. Why don't you take a look at the website and see if you see anything you like.

Remember it has never been easier to be anybody you want to be!!

What if Banksy did pantomimes? #cinderella #hull #pantomime

On the coldest night of last year Pirate Mick, myself and a friend headed on a road trip across the river to Hull.  We were joining other friends from our burly family for our annual pantomime!
I adore pantomimes. Take a look at a couple of posts I did on my other blog.

This year we all decided to try a different venue and headed to Hull's Light stream Stadium the 'Queens Theatre'.

Looking good!! Love the Grumbleweeds from listening to them on Radio two's comedy hour.  Adore Zippy and George from Rainbow and really like Linda Lusardi.  My daddy really likes Linda Lusardi, I think for her presenting skills!!

When we got there, after a trek across Hull we arrived in a massive car park with a huge tent in front of us.  It was a bit like a science fiction film and I was not sure we would return!!
We headed to the toilets, which were outside in portokabins but they were quite posh, but sadly no water!!
We met in the large foyer which was meant to be a fairy tale wonderland!! Brothers Grimm Fairy tale.  The Christmas trees had no working lights on.  The ride for children was covered with tarpaulin.  The hot dog stand did not open and the doughnut stand had around twenty doughnuts and then had to close. No music, no atmosphere.  In fact I am convinced it had been produced by Banksy as it was a run for the money on Dismaland!!  I had been promised the ability to meet Cinderella's meercat.  Obviously the meercat was too embarrassed to be seen in this shambles and did not show!!
It was also freeeezing!! If we had been told the show was in a tent we would had dressed appropriately. I felt for the young girls who were dressed in their Cinderella outfits.

The show was fun, however I did find Linda Lusardi too nice to be evil.  I did think maybe the whole thing was a dream as in the song 'Old McDonald' Buttons sang 'Old McDonald had a donkey' and the whole audience sang 'Woof woof'. I gave up at that point!!
George and Zippy were not used enough but the Grumbleweeds were really good and brought much needed humour to the production.
The songs for me were a little too slow.  I only like upbeat sing a long songs in a pantomime but that is personal preference!

This experience left me with story to tell but maybe not the fairy tale it was meant to be!!
Do you like my light up necklace?  My jumper is from Marks and Spencer and has a cat in a sequin crown!! Amazing!! Washes great and just up my street.  Cats and sequins!!

Did you go to a pantomime? What did you think? At least I now can no longer ponder, 'What if Banksy did pantomimes?'

Happy New Year #startasyoumeantogoon

Wow, I really need to apologise!! I have not written a blog post in ages.
Life went on a little roller-coaster which meant my head was in the clouds and I was not in a good place.  I have taken time over Christmas to relax and try and sort myself out and hopefully things are going to improve!
So, Happy New Year to you!
I have lots of posts that I want to do but thought I would just wish you a happy new year and start as I mean to go on!

Life often sends you curve balls.  Do not wait to do things you want to do.  Do not wait for a rainy day.  Live, love and laugh and be close to those you want to be close to.

I sent this to friends and family on New Years day and thought I would share it with you.

Make this year worth it!
